The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has three routes for foreign workers who are already in Alberta or planning to move there. It also includes streams for entrepreneurs wanting to live in Alberta and either buy or start a business in the province.

Alberta Opportunity Stream

This pathway is open to eligible candidates living and working in Alberta who have received a job offer from an employer in the province. These individuals can apply for an AAIP nomination.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

This stream invites eligible candidates with federal Express Entry pool profiles meeting minimum requirements. These factors enhance selection probability and align with provincial economic, sector, and occupational priorities. This stream also includes dedicated pathways for healthcare professionals and technology workers.

Rural Renewal Stream

The AAIP Rural Renewal Stream program allows newcomers to Alberta with a job offer and community support from a designated rural community to apply for permanent residence. The program aims to help rural communities address labour shortages and attract more skilled workers.

Rural Entrepreneur Stream

Individuals with entrepreneurial ambitions, keen on launching a new venture or acquiring an existing one within a rural Alberta community, can submit an Expression of Interest.

Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

International graduates of approved Alberta post-secondary institutions who want to start or buy an existing business can submit an Expression of Interest.

Farm Stream

Experienced farmers who plan to buy or start a farm in Alberta can apply for nomination.

Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

Meanwhile, foreign graduates who possess a degree from a post-secondary institution outside of Canada and foster aspirations of kickstarting an innovative business venture can collaborate with a designated agency to achieve their goals."
