Important Update for International Students Applying to Canadian Colleges/Universities in 2024
Great news! The Canadian government has clarified the number of study permits available for college and undergraduate students in 2024.
Here’s what you need to know:
- More Study Permit Opportunities:ย Approximatelyย 292,000 permitsย are available specifically for college and undergraduate students this year. This clarifies an earlier announcement that included other study permit categories.
- Streamlined Process:ย Provinces will introduceย Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs)ย to simplify your application.
- Action Required:ย Once you receive aย letter of acceptance (LOA)ย from your chosen institution, you’ll need both the LOA and a PAL to apply for your study permit.
What this means for you:
- There are still ample opportunities to pursue your studies in Canada this year.
- The new PAL system aims to make the application process smoother for students.

Canada remains a welcoming destination for international students, and these updates aim to ensure a smoother application process for everyone.
Additional Points:

- Master’s, PhD, and K-12 students are not affected by the cap and their application process remains unchanged.
