Alberta introduced the latest immigration program to attract tech talent
The immigration minister of Alberta, Tyler Shandro, introduced a new rapid immigration program for tech workers on 13th January. Applicants already working in tech can be eligible for Alberta’s new expedited immigration program. This Province has already started receiving the applications from December.
Alberta’s immigration minister, Tyler Shandro, claims that if any candidate has a job offer in the in-demand tech industry, they can get Canada PR in six months. In addition, tech experts also get a support letter from the Alberta Government if they need a work permit.
Technical companies in Alberta
Alberta is the hub of the tech sector, and there are more than 3,000 technology companies are available in this Province. As a result, the tech sector of Alberta is continually getting the hype. According to the 2021 Alberta Technology Deal Flow Study, the tech sector of Alberta has registered a 233% growth from 2012. However, the majority of tech companies are still facing several problems while recruiting tech talent.
Essential steps to apply for the accelerated tech pathway
Firstly, the candidate must check eligibility for the Express Entry Stream of Alberta. If you want to process the application under the accelerated tech pathway, you must consider the following steps.
Complete the registration in the Express Entry system
The Express Entry system has become one of the most popular immigration programs created by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which totally depends on the point-based system in which your profile gets assessed for the Canada PR. If you want to enter into the pool of Express Entry of applications, then a candidate must be eligible for any of the following pathways-
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
Applicant must submit the duly filled form in the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). In addition, you need to give details regarding the Express Entry profile & the technical vacancies available in Alberta. If you want to qualify for this pathway, then you must have a job offer or must be working in Alberta based organization.
Eligibility Criteria for Express Entry program
The eligibility totally depends on the profile of the applicant. The candidate needs to fulfill the following important points to be eligible:
- The candidate must have one year of experience.
- The age of the applicant must be in the range of 25–45 (Age range between 25–35 gets the maximum points, while your points will be deducted as your age increase from 35 to 45)
- The candidate either requires an English or French test score as proof of the first language test, and you can also submit either a French or English test score as a second language test that will give you extra points’ advantages.

Eligibility Check
Make sure that you are fulfilling the minimum requirements of the Alberta Express Entry Stream; after that, you will get an invitation via email. After getting an invitation via email, the candidate can apply for the provincial nomination.
Bear in mind that the applicant will not apply to this without getting the invitation & cannot be applied for different streams.
Eligible candidates apply for provincial nomination
The latest immigration program of Alberta is associated with the Express Entry system & qualified candidates will get the nomination on their Express Entry profile. Every applicant has a maximum of 30 days to accept the nomination via an Express Entry profile. If you accept the nomination, 600 additional CRS points will appear on the nominee’s profile that will boost your chances of getting to the peak of the Express Entry pool.
As per the Canadian Government, only ICCRC authorized members can represent your PR file. Therefore, beware of unauthorized agents attracting PR aspirants through fake statements.
